Fructose
Fructose is a simple crystalline sugar (monosaccharide) derived from fruit and vegetable sources. Fructose has a low glycemic index (GI) of 23. Fructose may be a healthier option than sucrose (table sugar), which has a GI of 65, because it won't raise blood sugar levels as much. Some health practitioners may say fructose is safe for diabetics in small amounts, as it does not stimulate an insulin response from the pancreas.
Fructose is typically added to teas, coffee, baking, and more, and in its crystalline form, is considered sweeter than sugar.
