Ceramic Water Filters:
These urns filter and cool water through the natural process of evaporation.
The filtering and purifying process is done through a physical barrier of fine geselgar clay.
High quality GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) and Silver nitrate (Natural bactericide) (For more info on GAC see Carbon and KDF Filters)
The filter candle is effective for approximately 1500 litres of municipal water. This will obviously vary depending on the quality of the water.
It is advisable to change the filter candle every 6 months
The 5 & 6 litre filters take 1 filter candle, the 8 litre takes 2 candles and the 10 litre takes 3 candles.
For best cooling, the unit needs to be placed in a well ventilated position. Especially where conditions are more humid.
After a period of time the natural evaporation of salts starts to build up on the outside of the top chamber. This can be cleaned off by applying neat dishwashing liquid to the outside of the top chamber with a damp cloth. Periodically it is advisable to purchase an inexpensive cleaning kit from Healthmakers where the entire filter is dismantled and soaked in the solution provided.
With proper care, these ceramic units provide cool filtered water for many years.
