About Nature’s Choice Food Products
Nature’s Choice carries a range of over 750 own-brand health food and health related products.
Nature’s Choice specializes in natural products (bio-friendly foods and products, as well as organic foods and products). Typically, Nature’s Choice foods are unrefined (whole food), preservative-free foods that do not contain synthetic chemicals and additives.
In-house milling at Nature’s Choice is preformed using a stone mill, unlike hammer milling, stone milling preserves the integrity of the cells that make up the grain.
While the Nature’s Choice products range is primarily aimed at the enlightened “health aware” consumer, and in some degree to the housewife at large, the company also produces a unique range of specialty products that cater to the needs of the gluten-intolerant, the dairy intolerant, the diabetic, and those who suffer from other dietary intolerances and sensitivities.
Natures Choice Freshness Guarantee Specially designed computer systems enable Nature’s Choice to buy, process and pack raw materials and finished products on what they call a “Just-in-Time” basis. This ensures that “fresh” raw materials are only purchased as needed and that processing and packaging are scheduled only in accordance with immediate short-term demand. So your food does not wait around losing nutritional value in a warehouse before it gets to you.
Thanks to Nature’s Choice computerized control system, flow-through shelving, three huge cooling facilities for bulk and packed semi-perishables, stringent sensory and date checks, dedicated cleaning lines and inspection conveyors, and rigorous standards of hygiene, the company has earned a 100% freshness and quality reputation.

Natures Choice Food Packaging
The majority of Nature’s Choice food products come packaged in self-sealing, stand-up pouches that are produced from 112 to 162 micron polyester & polyethylene laminate.
This superior packaging offers the following benefits:

- At store level, weevils etc. cannot migrate from other products into Nature’s Choice products as the thicker material acts as an effective barrier against insect infestation.

The guys at Nature’s Choice generally classified food into the following categories:
Foods Certified as Organic (Nature’s Choice Products) Organic foods are foods that are grown and distributed in strict compliance with globally recognized standards of organic food cultivation and production. Nature’s Choice carries a wide and ever-growing range of Organic foods, most of which are specially imported and all of which would also classify as bio-friendly (see below). Nature’s Choice is certified with BCS in Germany and, as such, all their organic foods are Certified Organic.

Bio-Friendly Foods (Nature’s Choice Products) These foods may not be strictly organic but, unlike “junk foods,” they adequately support the needs of life and they do not burden the body processes in any way. Typically, bio-friendly foods are preservative-free, sucrose-free, and hydrogenated fat-free. They are unrefined and unadulterated. They have not been irradiated or over-processed or ultra heat-treated. Bio-friendly foods do not contain harmful chemical additives (which might include texturizers, emulsifiers, colorants etc.).
While bio-friendly foods are not always on a par with organic foods, as a rule they are infinitely superior to junk foods. All foods in the Nature’s Choice range are either Organic or Bio-Friendly. All their organic foods are also bio-friendly - (this is why they refuse to sell “organic” sugar, for example.)
Gluten-Free Products (Nature’s Choice Products) If you suffer from frequent headaches, nausea, bloating and digestive problems, you may be gluten intolerant. It’s not the end of the world though. Contrary to popular belief, gluten intolerance does not resign you to a boring, tasteless diet that cuts out all your favourite foods.
If you understand your allergy and know how to manage it correctly, you can make sure that you don’t have to give up bread, cake or even those delicious scones.
Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, as well as in barley, rye, oats, spelt, kamut and triticale. Gluten intolerance may be hereditary, but is also often associated with severe stress, trauma and chronic fatigue syndrome.
The best way to combat gluten intolerance is to cut out foods that contain gluten from your diet. In western culture, however, this can be challenging. Breads, pasta and other foods that contain gluten are dietary staples.
This is why Nature’s Choice recommends finding substitutes for your favourite foods rather than simply eliminating them from your diet. As gluten intolerance has become more widely recognised as a common food allergy, more gluten-free products have become available.
For those who are gluten or wheat intolerant, Nature’s Choice food has developed a comprehensive range of gluten-free food products including readymade treats, such as apricot and pecan biscotti, carob and almond biscotti, carob and coconut cookies, ginger snaps, trio of nuts cookies, tea biscuits, jumbo choc-chip cookies, buttermilk rusks, health nut and seed rusks, brown rice cakes, “choc”-coated brown rice cakes, “kreemy”-coated brown rice cakes, corn wafers and luxury granola.
Gluten-free pastas are also on offer, which are made from rice- and corn-flour and contain no artificial colourants or flavourings. Nature’s Choice gluten-free pastas include gnocchi shells, fusili, macaroni and fettuccine in a variety of flavours.
For those who enjoy fresh-baked breads, pizza and waffles, Nature’s Choice offers convenient pre-mixes, such as Crusty Four-Flour Bread, Dream Scones, Basic Muffin Mix and Carob-Chip Muffin Mixes, which are easy to use and as enjoyable as any conventional product on the market.

Nature’s Choice believe that when a food needs enrichment, it is a poor food indeed and, as such, it is hardly worthy of being classified as “functional.”
Junk Foods (these are not Nature’s Choice Products)
According to Nature’s Choice food definitions, junk foods are neither Organic or Bio-Friendly. For one reason or another, they do not adequately support the needs of life and/or they burden the life processes in some way. They may contain preservatives, sugar, hydrogenated fat, refined flour and/or any number of chemical additives. They may be adulterated, irradiated, ultra-heat treated and/or highly processed. In most cases, they will cause constipation and/or unbalance body chemistry and/or cause hormone imbalance and/or upset homeostasis and/or contribute significantly to the body’s toxic load. As a matter of policy, and out of respect to loyal supporters, Nature’s Choice do not make or stock junk foods of whatsoever nature.
Genetically Modified Foods (these are not Nature’s Choice Products) Nature’s Choice also chooses not to use genetically modified foods and does not recommend their use. Because of poor (almost non-existent) governmental controls over the production and importation of genetically modified (GMO) foods, however, certain GMO foods have made significant inroads into our South Africa’s food supply - the two main culprits being Soya and Maize. Nature’s Choice policy dictates that wherever we suspect that a food may be genetically modified, they will make every effort to supply the organic alternative (which will always be GMO free). Until such time as there is a quick and easy way of identifying a GMO food - enabling us to label food accordingly - rather opt for the organic alternative - especially in the case of soya and maize.
