What are Trace Minerals?
Trace Minerals, also known as microminerals, are found through out our cells and tissues, and even in mothers milk. Unlike the macrominerals calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium, Trace Minerals are only required in tiny amounts by the body.
We obtain these Trace Minerals from whole unrefined foods, such as fruits and vegetables, in the meat of livestock that eat such vegetation, and in natural water supplies.
Health Benefits:
Viridian Trace Mineral Complex contains Manganese, Selenium, Boron, Copper, Vanadium, Chromium, and Molybdenum. Each of these minerals contribute to health in their own way, but most also aid bone and dental health by preventing demineralization and by increasing bone density.
These Trace minerals are also vital for hormone, neural, cardiovascular and immune health. They support cellular communication, metabolism and nutrient absorption. Some have antioxidant functions, and help fight cancer, while others lower bad cholesterol or stabilize blood sugar levels.
Trace Minerals are the subtle supporters of homeostasis in our bodies, and are vital to sustained health.
Depleted Resources:
We need to eat whole unrefined foods to get these Trace Minerals, but most of us eat foods that have been altered to taste or look 'better', and keep longer. The other concern is that due to farming methods, soil nutrient depletion now directly affects the mineral content of all plant foods being harvested, and of the meat from animals that are fed from such vegetation.
Trace Minerals can also be found in naturally occurring water supplies, but due to the chemical treatments and filtration methods of conventional drinking water, one cannot rely on this as a source of these minerals.
Who might benefit from Trace Mineral supplementation:
When considering the diets we eat and the water we drink, it is only logical to believe that essentially anyone who is not already supplementing with Trace minerals can benefit from taking some.
More specifically, those suffering from muscle related disorders such as in fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome or sports injuries can take them with magnesium, while those with bone related disorders such as in osteoporosis, menopause, or arthritis can take them with calcium.
Alternative Sources:
Trace Minerals are also found in the super food Spirulina, natural unrefined Sea Salt and Himalayan Rock Salt, and Concentrace liquid.
