Stevia is a herbal liquid sweetener extracted from a South American plant, Stevia Rebaudiana. It is rich in natural compounds (such as stevioside) that make it
taste sweet and which are not absorbed by the human digestive system,
and therefore do not contribute to calories in the diet.
It is a good alternative to artificial sweeteners and sugar. Stevia extract is much sweeter than sugar, with a slight liquorice after taste. Use in place of sugar and sweeteners in desserts, baking, and cooking. Can be used as part of a weight reducing, diabetic, or anti-candida diet.
